Online Appointment Booking for Clinical Psychology
When booking online please note the following:
Dr Katherine Reynolds only consults with those over 16 years.
New clients please note our standard process is to book 3 consultations at fortnightly intervals when making a first appointment in order to guarantee practitioner availability. These can be cancelled if the client feels the practitioner is not right for them and/or ongoing sessions are not required. If you prefer to book one appointment only, please be aware that there may be a delay in subsequent practitioner availability. We would much prefer to cancel future appointments than be unable to see someone again for a number of weeks, particularly if they require timely support. Feel free to book more than one appointment online. Please also be aware registration forms should be emailed to you within a week to bring with you to your first appointment. Unfortunately these are sometimes diverted to an email junk folder.
Skype appointments - please indicate this in the notes box and provide a Skype name we can video call at the appointment time.

Mental Health Care Plans
Anyone can consult with a psychologist without a referral. However, when discussing their symptoms with general practitioners, many clients are referred to psychologists through the Better Access to Mental Health Initiative, the purpose of which is to provide psychological treatment for eligible clients. GPs, Paediatricians and Obstetricians develop Mental Health Care Plans for those clients; this paperwork is registered with Medicare and then provided to the psychologist. These plans give clients eligibility for Medicare rebates.
Mental Health Care Plans can be completed in the name of a parent or a child, and can be used with any psychologist irrespective of the practitioner name on the referral. They provide access to Medicare rebates for six sessions initially. For those who wish to continue to seek treatment, a further four sessions may be activated by the referring practitioner (e.g. GP). A rebate can be claimed for a maximum of 10 sessions per calendar year. Mental Health Care Plans do not expire, unused sessions roll over into the new calendar year(s) (however, the maximum number of rebates per year still applies).
All of our psychologists are Clinical Psychologists. As such, clients who consult with them who are referred from a GP, Paediatrician or Obstetrician with a Mental Health Care Plan receive the highest Medicare rebate available for psychology ($124.50). Rebates can be processed on the spot. A gap payment will also be required. Concession rates are available for those with a health care card.
Private health insurance providers also rebates depending on type of cover. Any cover which includes psychology will attract a rebate for our services. Please contact your provider for details. However, please note private health rebates cannot be used in conjunction with Medicare rebates for the same session (i.e. one or the other may be used).
Skype appointments are available, however, Medicare nor private health insurers do not provide rebates for these services for those living in populated areas. The Medicare system will now provide rebates for a number of consultations for those residing in an area classed as rural and remote. Other clients are welcome to consult via Skype with the understanding that no rebates will be applicable. We do note that Skype appointments are not recommended for those under 15 years, however, parenting support can be delivered this way. Please contact us if you wish to discuss this further.
Telehealth services are now provided under Medicare for those living in rural and remote areas of Australia, and we provide these via Skype. To determine if you are eligible for Telehealth rebates check the Doctor Connect website provides a searchable online map. Areas on this map covered by Telehealth are those rated MMM4-7 (the Modified Monash Model (MMM) is the system used by Dept of Health to determine remoteness and accessibility of locations across the country). For further information on Telehealth click here.
Dr Nicole Williams & Dr Katherine Reynolds provide Non-directive Pregnancy Counselling with Medicare rebates. These rebates are available with a referral from a doctor (including obstetricians) for individuals who have been pregnant in the past 12 mths. Three sessions with these rebates are available without a Mental Health Care Plan. (Please note, however, the rebates are lower than with Mental Health Care Plans. Please click here for more details or contact reception.)
Our costs remain significantly lower than that recommended by the Australian Psychological Society. Concession rates are available. If you are suffering financial hardship which would create a barrier to seeking appropriate support please contact us to discuss. For more information contact firstname.lastname@example.org or 8210 9443.
